Algeria has 59 oilfields which produce about 830,000 barrels per day. The average production per well totals 642 barrels per well. Algeria’s Hassi Messaoud North and South fields, both of which were discovered in 1956, are believed to account for over 40% of the country’s total production. If true, its other 57 fields have an average production of about 9,000 barrels per day per field. Algeria’s 59 fields have almost 1,300 wells, making the country’s average production per well about 650 barrels per day. |
